Winter Ball 2024
Our fourth annual Winter Ball was our best one yet! We hosted medics from all walks of life at the elegant Sheraton Grand Park Hotel with a three course meal, incredible speeches and a night of dancing and networking.
Our keynote speakers, Dr Idz and Mamadinya inspired us all to put ourselves out there and create the lives we want, whilst still prioritising improving the health of others. And our founder, Dr Emma reminded us of all the incredible things House of Medics has been up to this year.
After being serenaded by amazing saxophonist, we danced the night away and also raised money for our outreach work via our fantastic raffle prizes.

Healthcare Careers Conference
We held a conference for year 9-13 students who are considering a career in healthcare. The morning consisted of lectures from renowned plastic surgeon, Ms Joy Odili, celebrity dentist Dr Kevin Dapaah and media GP Dr Veena Babu.
After lunch, the students had a choice of workshops lead by experts, including interview prep, mental health careers, midwifery & nursing and dentistry.

Girls Glow Ghana
Girls Glow Ghana was our first female empowerment day, hosting over 200 female students at Comboni Technical Institute. We taught basic hygiene, hand hygiene, dental hygiene, menstrual hygiene and sexual health.
Most importantly, we opened a sanitary products bank so that the students can have access to products at school whilst menstruating. Many girls are unable to attend school during their monthly periods because they don’t have access to appropriate hygiene products. We hope to be able to change this through the bank.

Tamale Project
Our first trip to Tamale, Northern region of Ghana! We conducted health screening for over 200 Ghanaians, screening for high blood pressure, diabetes, anaemia, obesity and hepatitis. This was incredibly impactful, we uncovered several cases of dangerous high blood pressure and undiagnosed hepatitis, and were able to provide emergency care to those at risk.
The following day, we gave educational lectures to the faculty at Tamale Technical University and the local residents. This provided them with the knowledge to be able to make better health decisions and also teach those around them.

The MedAdvance conference was a gathering of students, doctors, dentists, nurses, academics and other allied healthcare professionals who are passionate about improving the healthcare system in Africa. The focus was innovation, quality improvement and leveraging technology to improve health outcomes.
